2018 sees shift from full face make-up to looks that enables the skin to breath. We'd be seeing a lot of looks that is geared towards natural looking, youthful, and glowing skin.

In order to achieve this look we need to invest more on our skin care routine - great skin is the best canvas to achieve a more natural, glowing look.

One lesson I learned the hard way (my 2017 skincare story) is that:

"Investing in skin care is better than purchasing a lot of beauty products because at the end of the day good skin is great to have with or without make-up"

Results are lasting (it doesn't come off after washing your face) and gives you a more youthful, vibrant and healthy looking skin for years to come.

SKIN CARE STEPS:

My skin-care routine consists of the three basic steps (i usually skip moisturizers):

  1. Cleanse - washing your face

  2. Tone - balancing the skin and minimize pores

  3. Serums and Treatment Lotions

The goal of the routine is to tune up your complexion and to troubleshoot areas and specific problems you want to work on.

1CLEANSE

Washing your face is the most basic and essential step of any routine. Wash face twice a day - morning and night, to avoid clogged pores, dullness and acne.

Cleanser: CLINIQUE liquid facial soap mild. I always go for mild cleanser since I have senstive skin, clinique cleanser is also good for dry combination skin.

Exfoliate: Once or twice a week, I exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and faciliate cell turnover. MURAD AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser or KIEHL'S clearly corrective white skin brightening exfoliator

2TONER

Toners should be done after cleansing and before putting anything else. To save product, you can pull apart a cotton pad, pour the toner, and pass it over your face. Avoid the eye area when using the toner.

Toners are some sort of supplements and deliver extra shots of nutrients that helps other products in your regimen be absorbed better.

3SERUMS & TREATMENT LOTIONS

Serums are powerful skin allies. Filled with concentrated doses of active ingredients, these elixirs can mitigate a number of issues, from dark spots to wrinkles. “Even if you don’t have any specific issues, everyone still needs a general antioxidant serum in the morning to protect from daily aggressors,” Mattioli says. There are a number of serums to choose from my favorites are:

AM

Dark Spot Corrector - Kiehl's Clearly Corrective™ Dark Spot Solution. A highly effective facial serum that brightens and clarifies skin for increased radiance. Over time, it diminishes the number and intensity of even deep-set dark spots and skin discolorations.

Blemish Control - Kiehl's Breakout Control Acne Treatment Facial Lotion. This facial treatment lotion helps to correct and help prevent future blemishes, while reducing the appearance of dullness and rough texture. Formulated with acne-clearing Salicylic Acid and Pine Bark Extract it calms and soothes inflamed skin, while diminishing visible redness and evening skin tone for a clear complexion.

Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate. Lightweight facial oil that keeps skin looking radiant all day. I use it in lieu of moisturizer.

PM

Night Time Peel - Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate. Nightly micro-peel concentrate helps to refine the feel of rough texture and reveal newly radiant, refreshed skin. I use this twice or thrice a week.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. A nighttime facial oil that visibly restores the appearance of skin. I pair this serum with Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate.

Eyes - Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye. A restorative eye treatment for younger-looking eyes by morning

There is no such thing as intant fix in skin care - you need time and do your routine dilligently to reap the benefits. Try using the product for about a month or two, once or twice a day to notice a difference.

Tip: With any skin-care product, apply in order of consistency — from thinnest to thickest. For example, cleanser, toner (if you use it), serum, and then moisturizer.
